Ecuador for More Chinese Investment

Beijing, Nov 22 (Prensa Latina) Ecuadorian President Rafael Correa affirmed Thursday that relations with China are at a very good moment and announced his country's intention to attract more Chinese investments.

"Ecuador could be China's doorway to Latin America," the president stated, and reiterated the idea that the airport of the current US base of Manta could be used to welcome Chinese passenger planes in the future.

Correa also pointed out that his country, committed to putting the socialism of the 21st century into practice, can take advantage of the socialist experiences in China and those of its Communist Party.

Correa, who began his China visit on Monday, met with his counterpart, Hu Jintao, and the president of the National People's Assembly, Wu Bangguo, and attended the signing of 14 agreements and memorandums.
