QUITO -(Dow Jones)- Ecuador posted a $97 million current account surplus in its balance of payments in the third quarter, compared with a $633 million surplus in the year-earlier period, the central bank said Monday.
Meanwhile, the country's financial and capital account, which is a measure of both direct investment and portfolio flows, registered a surplus of $238 million in the third quarter, compared with a deficit of $259 million in the same period of 2007, the monetary authority said.
In the second quarter, the country reported a $1.3 billion current account surplus and a surplus of $663 million in its financial and capital account.
