The investment made in 2007, in the first 12 months of the administration of President Rafael Correa, amounted to 2, 864 million dollars and an increase of 1,420 million was registered during 2008, which confirms the priority granted by the government to this area.

In education, there was an increase of the cost in a 58 percent with respect to four years ago, which favored the improvement of the facilities of public education and quality in learning.
