Ecuadorian President Reshuffles Cabinet

Quito, Jan 3 (Prensa Latina) Ecuadorian President Rafael Correa carried out another cabinet reshuffle on Thursday, officially appointing Fernando Bustamante as Government and Police minister.

In a ceremony at Carondelet Palace, Correa entrusted Bustamante with the Executive portfolio he had been temporarily running.

Former Government Minister Gustavo Larrea was appointed Coordinating Minister of Internal and External Security.

Derlis Palacios was appointed as Coordinating Minister for Strategic Sectors and Veronica Sion was named Minister of Tourism.

Correa also announced the merger of the Department of Communication with that of Civil Service, which will be run by Vinicio Alvarado.

With these changes, the head of State declared concluded the Cabinet reshuffle, started in late November with changes in the Ministries of Transportation and the presidency of state-run oil company Petroecuador.
