Ecuador Correa Dodges Assembly Vote

Quito, Sep 6 (Prensa Latina) Ecuadorian President Rafael Correa Thursday ruled out his participation in the Constituent Assembly election, proving wrong denunciations of political movements and parties.

"I am fulfilling the promises I made to the people before the 2006 elections," stressed Correa, who visited Santo Domingo de los Colorados City on Wednesday and delivered home and micro credit bonuses.

The president said "that injustice in the social, economic, productive, and political areas has ended because, thanks to the people and the government, things are changing to give better services to Ecuadorians."

The president underlined that without the 82 percent of popular support, according to opinion polls, politicians, private banks, and some media circles would have brought him down.
