Quito, Jul 2 (Prensa Latina) The Ecuadorian government on Monday urged people to favor dialogue, peace, and justice in the mining and oil conflicts.
President Rafael Correa called for residents in Dayuma community, in the eastern province of Orellana, to remain calm after they had tried to paralyze part of operations of Petro Oriental Company.
He highlighted it is necessary to respect law and order, and promised sanctions for those who incite people to break the law to get control over oil facilities.
The current administration is not to blame for 20 years of neoliberal destruction, Correa stated, and warned those acts could allow neoliberal governments to retake power.
"Protests and clashes are not the tools to seek a solution to problems," the president affirmed referring to the incidents on Thursday.
