Quito, Jan 11 (Prensa Latina) Now that the Electoral Supreme Court (TSE) is reorganized, the parliamentary majority plans to begin the analysis of political reforms Thursday, thus hindering the Constituent Assembly proposed by President elect Rafael Correa.
The majority bloc, formed by the Prian (Renovador Institucional), the PSP (Patriotic Society), the PSC (Social Christian), and the UDC (Christian Democrat) parties, is currently ruling the TSE and hopes to obstruct the popular consultation Correa promised.
Were that to happen, the confrontation between the Executive and Legislative powers would worsen, as well as the already deteriorated image of parliamentarians.
Correa intends to call for the consultation on January 15, the same day he will swear in as president, but the new parliamentarians aim to thwart his goal.
